उत्तर
Godfrey Cass was the eldest son of Squire Cass and the heir to the Cass estate. He was a good natured man but extremely weak-willed and without a shred of moral fortitude. In spite of his higher social class, Godfrey's character is largely a viewer rather than a participant in the actions of the novel. Despite his physicality and personality, Godfrey is a passive character, he was indecisive and could have taken hold of the situation but eventually refrained from doing so because he needed to put up a respectable picture in front of society. Godfrey Cass possessed a physically powerful and graceful presence but that did not translate into resoluteness of morals or firmness of actions.
