उत्तर

Separatism in India refers to the demand by certain groups or regions to break away from the Indian Union and form independent states or gain special status. It often arises in areas with distinct ethnic, linguistic, or religious identities, such as Jammu & Kashmir, parts of the North-East (like Nagaland, Manipur, and Assam), and Punjab during the Khalistan movement. These movements are driven by a sense of political alienation, economic neglect, cultural differences, and historical grievances. In some cases, external forces also play a role by fuelling unrest. Separatist groups frequently resort to violence and armed rebellion, which threatens national security, peace, and the democratic structure of the country.

  • Promote inclusive and balanced regional development to remove economic disparities.
  • Strengthen democratic dialogue with affected communities to address legitimate concerns.
  • Ensure cultural respect and protection of regional identities within the national framework.
  • Provide greater autonomy and powers to states through federal reforms.
  • Take firm action against violent and extremist elements threatening national integrity.
  • Curb foreign influence and cross-border support through strong intelligence and diplomacy.
  • Promote national integration through education, media, and interstate cultural exchange.
