According to the question,

AE is the distance between the starting point and the endpoint.
∴ AF = AB - FB
= AB - DC  ...[∵ FB = DC]
= 90 - 30 = 60m
EF = ED - FD  ...[∵ FD = BC]
= ED - BC
= 100 - 20
= 80m
Now,  AE = `sqrt((AF)^2+(EF)^2)`
= `sqrt((60)^2+(80)^2)`
= `sqrt(3600+6400)`
= `sqrt10000= 100`m
