Vasantdada Patil Dental College and Hospital, Sangli

History

The Vasantdada Patil Dental College & Hospital, Sangli was established in1989. It is run by Shri. Vishwanathrao Shamrao Patil Charitable Trust, Sangli. It is the only Dental College in South Maharashtra.

On 50th birth anniversary of late Shri. Vishnuanna Patil, all his friends gathered together and established trust named Vishwanathrao Shamrao Patil Charitable trust. The purpose behind this trust if you to provide Medical & Dental health treatment and education to farmers in the Sangli district area.

Late Dr. Appasaheb Chopade was appointed as Hon. Secretary & Dental College was started on 4th October 1989. In January & February Year 2000 Shri. Vishnuanna Patil and Dr. Appasaheb Chopade passed away. After that Shri. Madan Patil & Dr. Annasaheb Chopade took over the responsibilities.

In 1991 & 1992 when first batch was in third year , college has established full fledge Dental Hospital with all necessary facilities & treatment. The treatment was on charity basis on no profit no loss principles. Highly educated teaching staff was appointed on full time basis from ervey corner of our country.

Recognition

This College was recognized by Dental Council of India, New Delhi, Vide their No.DE-22(8)-93/7821dt.29-03-1994.

The Govt. of India, Ministry of Health and family welfare, New Delhi, Published the notification in the gazette of India regarding recognisation of qualification of B.D.S. Students of this College vide their office letter No.V-12018/7/95- dt 20-10-1998.

Affiliation

This College was affiliated to Shivaji University Kolhapur vide its letter No. Affiliation / T2/New College/ 7134 dt30-08-1989. Presently, all the Medical College, Dental Colleges etc. are affiliated to newly founded Maharashtra University of Health Science Nashik.
