All About Assembly
It was a typical morning for everyone except me! This was the first time I was a bit scared to go to school, as I was supposed to be part of the morning assembly and deliver a speech on soldiers, as it was a golden opportunity to exhibit our love for Mother Nation and martyrs on January 29th, 2019. Martyrs Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas, is celebrated every year all over the country on the 30th of January to pay homage to the victims who fought for the freedom, welfare and progress of India and sacrificed their lives. We reached school, and teachers asked students to gather in the assembly hall before the lectures. Like every day the assembly started, I was nervous to face the crowd and deliver a speech. But after the prayer, I thought about the day and the news, and it was my turn. Finally, I started my speech the way I had practised. When I started, I was shivering because everyone's eyes were on me. I became conscious. Finally, I was able to complete what everyone later appreciated. Later, all the other programmes were followed as planned. The class choir group marked their love for God in the form of the song “It is my prayer to thee, my Lord”. Both Hindi and English thoughts highlighted the contribution of Martyrs, as there is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others. The assembly proceeded with GK Questions and news. The students’ talk highlighted Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi's contribution. Students addressed the gathering and captured their interest with a self-composed poem on the freedom struggle. India’s independence brings joy and happiness to our lives; therefore, students presented a mesmerising musical and dance performance. The morning assembly by all of us that day was a gracious tribute to the Martyrs and a memorable experience of my school life.
