उत्तर
- Uttar Pradesh (mustard): Mustard seeds give a widely used edible oil (oil content 25–40%), the oilcake is valuable cattle feed, leaves are eaten as a vegetable and the crop can be used as green manure; it’s grown as a rabi crop in the cool Ganga–Sutlej plains.
- Karnataka (groundnut): Groundnut is extensively grown in peninsular states including Karnataka; the kernels yield about 45% oil, the oil is used for cooking and industrial products (soap, candles, cosmetics), and the oilcake is excellent fodder; it is grown as Kharif (and in some south areas as Rabi), prefers 20–25°C, 50–100 cm rainfall and light sandy soils.
