Aldol Condensation : -
When aldehyde or ketone containing α -hydrogen atom is warmed with dilute alkali like dil. NaOH then condensation reaction takes place, a β -hydroxy aldehyde or β -hydroxyl ketones is obtained and the reaction is called as Aldol condensation.
