2. Calcium hydroxide (called slaked lime) is used in the manufacture of bleaching powder.
3. Magnesium hydroxide is used as an antacid to neutralise excess stomach acid and relieve indigestion.
4. Sodium carbonate is used as washing soda and for softening hard water.
5. Sodium hydrogencarbonate is used as baking soda in cooking, in baking powders, as an antacid to treat indigestion, and in soda-acid fire extinguishers.
