1. After the death of Balaji Vishwanath, Shahu Maharaj appointed his son Bajirao I as the Peshwa in 1720.
2. During his twenty-year tenure as Peshwa, he expanded the Maratha power significantly.
3. He defeated the Nizam in the Battle of Palkhed and secured the official grant (sanad) of Malwa's governorship.
4. He established dominance over Bundelkhand and captured the fort of Vasai.
5. In 1740, Bajirao I died near the Narmada river at Raverkhedi.
