In this method, variations in intensity and pace are made based on the athlete’s personal feeling, natural surroundings, terrain features, and other conditions. The structure of a Fartlek session is not usually planned beforehand. Instead, the intensity and speed change unpredictably throughout the session. A Fartlek workout typically lasts at least 30 minutes.
