Maharashtra's Samyukta In order to demand a separate Marathi-speaking state from Bombay State, the Samiti movement was founded in 1956.

1. It was formally established in Pune on February 6, 1956, under the direction of Keshavrao Jedhe.
2. Important figures in the movement were Narayan Ganesh Gore, Shripad Amrit Dange, and Shreedhar Madhav Joshi.
3. The movement received enormous public support, and both women and regular people participated in large numbers.
4. Numerous protesters lost their lives as a result of the conflict's violent demonstrations and sacrifices.
5. Its extreme nature forced the ruling party to divide the states along linguistic lines.
