At present, the population of the world stands at over 8 billion. India has the largest population in the world with over 1.43 billion people, followed by China, with about 1.41 billion people, the USA with around 340 million, and Indonesia with approximately 280 million people. Many small island nations in the Pacific Ocean have populations of just a few thousand.

Continent-wise, Asia has the largest population with more than 4.7 billion people, followed by Africa with about 1.5 billion people. Europe has around 750 million, North America about 600 million, South America approximately 440 million, and Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Islands like Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Samoa, etc.) has about 43 million people.
