Miss Sanjana was just like any girl next door. She kept to herself most of the time and always smiled when she met someone. She was well-known in the small town where she lived on rent for her sewing skills. Before going to sleep every night, she would tell herself, “Life would have been so much better if only I had enough money to live my dreams.” The other day, she was going through the bits of fabric she had cut when she heard a knock on the door. The renter’s youngest son did it. Someone who was looking for her had come to her room with him.
The woman was tall and well-dressed, and she was peeking around Sanjana’s sewing room. Sanjana was amazed by the beautiful silk satin shawl she was wearing. It had to have cost more than any fabric she had ever seen. “Hello, my name is Mrs. Wadhwani, and I’ve heard great things about how good you are at tailoring,” the woman said. I think it’s better to see something for myself than to believe what other people say. I’m here to ask if you can sew this for me. She took out her phone and showed her a picture of a dress with corsets that had been all the rage online for a week. When Sanjana saw it, she was amazed. “Madam, you have great taste!” “Of course I can make you something like this, but it will take some work to get the look you want.”
“Not like this, I want this exact thing!” No need to worry about the cost, but I only have one week to finish it because I need to wear it to a fundraising event next week. Even though her voice was very firm, Sanjana just smiled and said, “Don’t worry, madam. It will be done.” She was so devoted that Mrs. Wadhwani was a little shocked. She gave her contact information and some money up front, then nodded and left. Sanjana shut the door quickly and took out a model she had been working on for a week. It was the bottom piece of the same dress. It had taken Sanjana a week to work on it and try to figure out the basics on her own. During the work, she had barely any rest, yet she felt refreshed afterward. In just one week, she would be able to stitch the real gown without any problems. She might live a different life after this job. Really, luck favors the ready.
