  1. The growth of urbanisation: The growth of urbanisation in India has been slower in comparison to Brazil.
  2. More urbanisation:
    1. The southern region of India is more urbanised than the northern region. The level of urbanisation in Goa is 62%, whereas in Delhi it is above 80%. In addition, states such as Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Kerala have higher urbanisation.
    2. In Brazil, urbanisation is higher in the South and South-East regions, with Sao Paulo developing as a major metropolitan and industrial centre. States such as Sao Paulo, Goias, and Minas Gerais have a larger urban population than the northern states.
  3. Less urbanisation:
    1. In India, states such as Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Rajasthan have relatively low levels of urbanisation.
    2. In Brazil, the Amazon Basin and the Brazilian Highlands have lower urbanisation because of their smaller population. However, urbanisation has taken place in Manaus as it is an important port located at the confluence of the River Negro and the River Amazon.
