These workers are classified as main workers (worked for 183 days or more) and marginal workers (worked for less than 183 days in a year).

The working population in India is mainly involved in the following three sectors:

1. Primary Sector: A large portion is engaged in agriculture and allied activities, especially in rural areas.
2. Secondary Sector: This includes people working in industries, construction, and manufacturing.
3. Tertiary Sector: Involves service-based jobs such as education, transport, banking, trade, and administration.
