उत्तर

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested by the Pakistani authorities in March 1971 because of his leadership in demanding greater autonomy for East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and his role in the political unrest. His party, the Awami League, had won a majority in the 1970 elections, but the Pakistani government, led by President Yahya Khan, was unwilling to transfer power to him.

In response to the growing political tensions and Mujib's declaration of independence for East Pakistan, the Pakistani military launched a brutal crackdown known as “Operation Searchlight” on March 25, 1971. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested by the Pakistani  authorities and taken to West Pakistan. His arrest led to the escalation of violence and the start of the Bangladesh Liberation War, which eventually resulted in the independence of Bangladesh.
