Any interview with an employee who is leaving the company is referred to as an exit interview. It offers the following advantages:

  1. It gives the departing employee a chance to openly air his grievances about the company, his supervisor, his coworkers, etc. The employee feels better and departs with a more positive attitude after the interview.
  2. The organization’s work environment is improved based on the input obtained during the exit interview.
  3. Maintaining ties with departing employees who might want to return or who might be needed in the future is facilitated via exit interviews.
