उत्तर
During British rule, people lived in fear and had no freedom to share their opinions. The government treated them unfairly, and speaking out against it could lead to serious consequences.
The freedom movement brought a big change. Nationalist leaders began openly opposing the British and demanded justice, equality, and freedom. They wanted elected representatives to have the power to question the government and discuss the budget.
Because many people had taken part in the struggle for independence, it was believed that every citizen in free India should have the right to take part in decisions. This belief was added to the Indian Constitution through the idea of universal adult franchise, which means every adult has the right to vote.
This way, citizens could choose their leaders and be involved in how the government works. So, the national movement strongly supported voting rights for all adults to ensure a democratic and fair system of governance.
