Presence of notochord
Explanation -
Notochord is a solid, unjointed, rod-like structure situated on the dorsal side between the dorsal, hollow nerve cord and the alimentary canal. Presence of notochord is one of the characteristic features of chordates including vertebrates. In vertebrates, notochord is only present in the embryonic stage, and is replaced by a cartilagenous or bony vertebral column in the adults.
