Commission on the Status of Women: It is a Commission which has 45 members and was set up in 1946 by UN Economic and Social Council. Its main functions are:
(i) To eliminate discrimination against women in areas like: education, employment, health, marriage and family life.
(ii) To improve the status of girl child.
