President Lyndon B. Johnson introduced and signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968, also known as the Fair Housing Act, into law. He signed the Act on 11th April, 1968, just days after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as a response to the widespread civil unrest and to honour Dr. King’s legacy.
