उत्तर
After the Queen’s Proclamation (made public at Allahabad on November 1, 1858), India’s foreign policy was effectively dictated by the British Crown and aimed primarily at protecting the Indian Empire and at expanding British economic and commercial interests across Asia and Africa; these objectives guided military actions and diplomatic choices and their costs (soldiers’ lives and public expenditure) fell on Indians, while the Proclamation itself also promised non‑interference in Indian religious and social affairs and certain reforms at home.
