उत्तर

The main object of the Khalistan Movement was to create a separate independent Sikh state called Khalistan in the Punjab region.

It arose from growing Sikh discontent in the 1970s and 1980s, and its objectives included:

  • Establishing a sovereign Sikh homeland free from Indian control.
  • Safeguarding Sikh identity, religion, and culture.
  • Securing greater political and economic rights for Sikhs, especially in Punjab.
  • Some of its demands were formally expressed in the Anandpur Sahib Resolution (1973), which sought more autonomy for Punjab, control over its resources, and recognition of Sikh distinctiveness.
