Mini Steel plants use electric furnaces, thereby conserving coking coal and producing alloy Steel which meets the Steel requirements of far flung areas. They produce 3-5 million tonnes of Steel. Since they are located in industrial towns, the cost of transport is greatly reduced. They also have the advantage of less capital investment.
