Aerobic respiration provides more energy. It takes place in the presence of oxygen and completely breaks down glucose into carbon dioxide and water. Since glucose is completely oxidised, a large amount of energy (about 36-38 ATP per molecule of glucose) is released compared to anaerobic respiration.
