उत्तर

It is an international organization that oversees the Modern Olympic Games. Baron Pierre de Coubertin’s continuous efforts at the International Athletic Congress in Paris on 25th June, 1894, led to its formation. The first committee consisted of 15 members. It is the primary organization responsible for organizing the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) governs the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) that make up the global Olympic movement. As of 2016, the IOC officially recognized 206 NOCs.

The IOC is a self-elected, permanent body with its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. Typically, one member from a country with a strong Olympic movement or a country that has previously hosted an Olympic Games can suggest two members. India’s Sir Dorabji Jamshedji Tata, Prof. G. D. Sondhi, and Raja Bhalindera Singh were members of the IOC in 1920, 1932, and 1947 respectively.
