उत्तर

Operation Blue Star was a military operation carried out by the Indian Army between June 1 and June 8, 1984, aimed at removing Sikh militants who were holed up inside the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab. The operation was ordered by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to flush out militants led by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was advocating for the creation of an independent Sikh state, Khalistan.

The Golden Temple, which is the holiest site for Sikhs, had become the center of the militant activities. Bhindranwale and his armed supporters had taken refuge there, using the temple as a base to spread their demands for Khalistan and to carry out violent actions. Bhindranwale had a significant following among some Sikhs, and his militant group, alongside other armed separatists, had been involved in a campaign against the Indian state.
