China’s One Belt One Road (OBOR), now generally called the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), is a policy to improve connectivity between China and other regions through roads, railways, ports, energy projects, trade and investment links across Asia, Europe and Africa.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an important project under this initiative. It connects China’s Xinjiang region with Pakistan’s Gwadar area through transport, energy, industrial and other development projects. Its aim is to increase regional connectivity, trade and economic cooperation between China and Pakistan.
