A rock is defined as an aggregate of one or more minerals that forms a part of the Earth’s crust. Rocks do not have a definite chemical composition like compounds but are usually mixtures of various minerals.

Most rocks are made up of silica, quartz, and feldspar. They may be crystalline, compact, or glass-like in nature. Examples of rocks include stone, clay, lava, sand, chalk, coal, and marble.
