What is a storage unit?

When a user enters data using input devices, the computer system stores this data in its memory unit, also known as the storage unit.

The storage unit holds data and instructions either temporarily or permanently, depending on the type of memory. It also uses a set of pre-programmed instructions to transmit data to other parts of the CPU for processing.

There are two types of memory in the storage unit:

1. Primary Memory (Main Memory): It stores data and instructions that are currently being used by the CPU (e.g., RAM, ROM).
2. Secondary Memory (External Memory): It stores data permanently for future use (e.g., hard disc, CD, pen drive).
