- Primary cells are those cells in which the cell reaction occurs only in one direction and the reaction cannot be reversed by the external energy source.
- As a result, the reaction in primary cells only happens once, and the battery eventually dies and is no longer usable.
- It is impossible to recharge such cells.
- Daniell cells, dry cells, mercury cells, and others are examples of significant primary cells.
