Reaction of hydrochloric acid (HCl) with calcium carbonate (CaCO₃):

\[\ce{CaCO3 + 2HCl -> CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O}\]

Calcium chloride (CaCl₂) = salt

Carbon dioxide (CO₂) = gas released (seen as effervescence/bubbles)

Water (H₂O)
