  1. Belief in the Supreme Reality (Brahman): Hindus believe in Brahman, the ultimate, formless, eternal reality that pervades the universe. Gods and goddesses such as Vishnu, Shiva, and Devi are considered different manifestations or aspects of Brahman.
  2. Polytheism and Henotheism: Hinduism includes many deities (polytheism), each representing specific aspects of life and nature. Often practiced as henotheism devotion to one deity while acknowledging others.
  3. Doctrine of Karma and Rebirth: Karma refers to actions and their consequences, which determine the fate of individuals in their next life. Rebirth (Samsara) is the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, which continues until Moksha (liberation) is achieved.
  4. Goal of Moksha (Liberation): The ultimate aim of life is to attain Moksha, freedom from the cycle of rebirth and union with Brahman. Achieved through self-realization, righteous living, devotion (bhakti), knowledge (jnana), and meditation (dhyana).
  5. Sacred Texts: Core scriptures include the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, and Mahabharata. These texts guide spiritual life, rituals, ethics, and philosophy.
  6. Dharma (Righteous Duty): Dharma refers to moral, ethical, and religious duties based on one’s age, caste, gender, and stage of life. It promotes social order and individual discipline.
  7. Caste System (Varna): Traditionally, Hindu society was organized into four Varnas: Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras. Though legally abolished, caste still influences social practices.
  8. Rituals and Worship (Puja): Daily worship includes puja (prayer rituals) at home or in temples. Festivals, pilgrimages, and sacrifices are integral parts of religious life.
  9. Tolerance and Diversity: Hinduism embraces pluralism, it allows a wide range of beliefs and practices. There is no single founder, fixed dogma, or compulsory creed.
  10. Ahimsa (Non-Violence): A fundamental ethical principle in Hinduism, especially emphasized in Jain and Gandhian thought. Encourages compassion and non-harm towards all living beings.
