The population is increasing at an alarming rate and our natural resources are being used even at a faster rate. Increasing population has also lead to various devastating effects on our ecosystem as well. Increasing population has resulted in various problems like:
- Deforestation: The forest cover has decreased due to deforestation and the construction of dwellings and other products.
- Generation of waste: Humans dump more rubbish due to population growth. Most of this garbage contains non-biodegradable chemicals, causing contamination.
- Land degradation: Overuse of fertilisers, pesticides, and intensive farming has degraded land and water.
- Loss of biodiversity: Excessive mining, hunting, and tree cutting have reduced biodiversity in many locations. It extincted many creatures and plants.
- Industrialisation: More factories are being established, clearing enormous tracts of land and causing pollution.
