उत्तर

  1. Erect Posture and Locomotion: Humans developed an entirely erect posture with four reversed curves in the spine. The head is upright with eyes facing forward, aiding depth perception and binocular vision. Limbs are straight; arms are shorter than legs, facilitating efficient bipedal walking. This adaptation enabled freeing of hands for tool use and carrying objects.
  2. Skeletal Changes: Fingers and toes lost claws and developed flat nails for fine manipulation. The thorax became flattened and broadened, with a flattened sternum, supporting an upright stance. The skull shifted to an apical position on top of the vertebral column due to a forward and downward movement of the foramen magnum, supporting upright head posture.
  3. Brain Enlargement and Function: The skull size increased significantly with an enlarged cerebrum, the seat of higher cognitive functions. This allowed the evolution of logical and syllabic speech for complex communication. Other features include a steep forehead, reduced brow ridges, and a prominent chin.
  4. Facial and Dental Features: The snout disappeared resulting in a flat face (orthognathous). Teeth got closer together and jaws became smaller with gentler features, suited to an omnivorous diet.
  5. Reproductive Adaptations: Development of scrotal sacs and presence of a prepuce delayed puberty in males. Females evolved a single uterus, paired nipples, hymen, and delayed puberty. Continuous gametogenesis and menstruation cycles became characteristic of humans. Associated with social traits like monogamy.
