उत्तर

When a car makes a turn on a level road, the point of contact between the wheel and the pavement remains stationary without slipping. The car’s lateral force is limited by static friction between the tyres and the road. Lateral forces enable the automobile to turn. While rolling, the wheels experience both lateral static friction and longitudinal rolling friction.

Longitudinal forces control a car’s acceleration and speed by acting in the same or opposite direction as its motion. These include wheel force, rolling friction, braking force, and air drag. When a car skids, the friction force is kinetic. The friction force shifts abruptly from lateral to opposite the skid’s velocity, rather than toward the centre of the curve, preventing the automobile from continuing on its curved course.
