प्रश्न

The gravitational force operates between the sun and the planets in the solar system. Because of this, the planets revolve around the sun. At the same time, gravity also operates between planets and their satellites. Then, why don't all the planets and satellites fall towards the sun?

उत्तर

The planets and satellites do not fall directly towards the Sun because they are continuously moving forward in their orbits. At the same time, gravitational force pulls them towards the Sun or their planet. Due to the combined effect of their forward motion and gravitational force, they keep revolving in their fixed orbits instead of falling directly towards the Sun.
