a. with sodium hydroxide :
- \[\ce{Ca(NO3)2 ->[NaOH] Ca(OH)2 + NaNO3}\]
- White curdy ppt. is insoluble in excess of NaOH.
b. With ammonium hydroxide :
- \[\ce{Ca(NO3)2 ->[NH4OH] Ca(OH)2 + NH4NO3}\]
- No precipitation of Ca(OH)2 even in excess of ammonium hydroxide.
