उत्तर

The counselling process generally takes place through the following stages:

  1. Establishing rapport: The counsellor builds a comfortable, respectful and trusting relationship with the client.
  2. Identifying the problem: The counsellor listens carefully and helps the client explain the main problem, feelings and concerns.
  3. Understanding and assessment: The counsellor collects relevant information and tries to understand the problem’s causes and nature.
  4. Setting goals: The counsellor and client decide what changes or outcomes they want to achieve through counselling.
  5. Intervention and problem-solving: The counsellor uses suitable techniques to help the client explore alternatives, make decisions, and develop coping strategies.
  6. Evaluation: Progress is reviewed to see whether the counselling goals are being achieved.
  7. Termination and follow-up: Counselling is gradually ended when goals are achieved, and follow-up may be done to check the client’s adjustment and progress.
