उत्तर

Comparing equation 5x2 – 19x + 17 = 0 with ax2 + bx + c = 0, we get:

a = 5, b = –19 and c = 17.

By formula,

`x = (-b ± sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/(2a)`

Substituting values we get:

⇒ `x = (-(-19) ± sqrt((-19)^2 - 4 xx 5 xx 17))/(2 xx 5)`

= `(19 ± sqrt(361 - 340))/10`

= `(19 ± sqrt(21))/10`

= `(19 + sqrt(21))/10` or `(19 - sqrt(21))/10`

Hence, `x = {(19 + sqrt(21))/10, (19 - sqrt(21))/10}`.
