The ovarian or the menstrual cycle in human beings involves a number of cyclic changes that occur in the ovary and uterus under the influence of FSH and LH from anterior pituitary. The cycle occurs with a periodicity of about 28 days with ovulation occurring around the 14th day. If ovum is not fertilised, the corpus luteum formed after ovulation, degenerates.
