प्रश्न
Read the sources given and answer any four from the questions given below.
| The formation of microspores or pollen grains from a pollen mother cell by meiosis is called microsporogenesis. When the anther is young, a layer of homogenous cells, the sporogenous tissue, occupies the centre of each microsporangium. It is diploid in nature. The sporogenous tissue undergo meiotic divisions to form microspore tetrads (four microspores) which are haploid. These microspores mature to form pollen grains. Pollen grains are spherical structures with two-layered wall: an outer exine and inner intine. Exine is covered by the deposition of sporopollenin, a resistant layer that can withstand high temperature and pressure. Exine contains apertures known as germ pores, where sporopollenin is absent. The intine is made up of pectin and cellulose. |
