The title of the poem is A Teenager’s Prayer and it is written by J. Morse. The poem is a prayer spoken by a teenager who stands at an important stage of life. The rhyme scheme of the poem is abcb. The poet expresses the responsibility of making correct decisions every day. One of my favourite lines from the poem is “I can choose to take the road of life,” as it shows the power of choice.
The central idea of the poem is a teenager’s desire to choose the right path in life and avoid wrong ways that lead to distress. The poet prays to God for guidance, wisdom and strength to face temptations. The poem highlights the struggle between right and wrong choices during teenage years. The figure of speech metaphor is used, where life is compared to a road with different paths.
The poem is devotional and reflective in nature. The language used is simple, clear and easy to understand. The tone of the poem is sincere and hopeful. I like the poem because it gives a positive message and guides teenagers to live a clean, disciplined and meaningful life.
