Step-I: A complex is created when acetone reacts with the Grignard reagent CH3MgI (methyl magnesium iodide) in dry ether.
Step-II: Complex on further hydrolysis with dil. HCl forms a tertiary alcohol, i.e., 2-Methyl propan-2-ol.
