A dynamo (AC generator) works on the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction. Electromagnetic induction is the production of an induced e.m.f. in a closed coil whenever the magnetic flux linked with the coil changes. As long as the magnetic flux keeps changing, an induced current flows in the coil.
