∴ Total length he buys in all = `7/4` m + `1/2` m
= `7/4` m + `(1 xx 2)/(2 xx 2)` m
= `7/4` m + `2/4` m ...[∵ L.C.M. of 4 and 2 is 4]
= `((7 + 2))/4` m
= `9/4` m or `2 1/4` m
