उत्तर

Concave Mirror: This is because for solar furnaces, we use a concave mirror. Light from the sun, on reflection from the mirror, is concentrated at the focus of the mirror, producing heat.

What type of image is formed:

 in a plane mirror?

A coin placed at the bottom of a vessel appears to be raised when water is poured in the vessel.

What do you understand by the focus and focal length of a spherical mirror? Show them on the separate diagrams for each of a concave mirror and a convex mirror.

A student obtained a sharp image of a burning candle, placed at the farther end of a laboratory table, on a screen using a concave mirror. For getting better value of focal length of the mirror, the subject teacher suggested him for focusing a well illuminated distant object. What should the student do?

(A) He should move the mirror away from the screen.

(B) He should move the mirror slightly towards the screen.

(C) He should move the mirror as well as the screen towards the newly selected object.

(D) He should move only the screen towards the newly selected object.

Explain the following term:

Incident ray

Draw suitable diagrams to illustrate the action of (i) concave mirror and (ii) convex mirror on a beam of light incident parallel to the principal axis.

Complete the following diagrams in Figure by drawing the reflected rays for the incident rays 1 and 2.

Discuss the position and nature of image formed by a convex mirror when an object is moved from infinity towards the pole of mirror.

Name the kind of mirror used to obtain :

A real and enlarged image

The focal length of a concave mirror is 10 cm. Find its radius of curvature.

An object of height 2 cm is placed at a distance of 20 cm in front of a concave mirror of a focal length of 12 cm. Find the position, size, and nature of the image.

Which mirror has a wider field of view?

What is the focal length of a plane mirror?

What do you mean by the magnification produced by mirrors?

The following figure shows a concave mirror with its pole (P), focus (F), and center of curvature (C). Draw a ray diagram to show the formation of the image of an object AB by the concave mirror.

Define the radius of curvature.

  1. Principal focus
  2. Focal length
