Mention two reasons for the ‘break’ in monsoons.

1. Shifting of the Monsoon Trough: When the monsoon trough (a low-pressure area) moves northwards toward the Himalayas, rainfall decreases in the central and northern plains, causing a temporary break.
2. Lack of Depressions in the Bay of Bengal: If there are no low-pressure systems or depressions forming over the Bay of Bengal, the monsoon winds weaken, leading to a break in rainfall.

These breaks usually happen in July or August and can last for several days.
