For Assembly elections, it was raised from Rs. 250 to Rs. 5,000 for the general candidates and from Rs. 125 to Rs. 2,500 for candidates belonging to SCs and STs. The security deposit of such candidates as having obtained less than one-sixth of the total number of votes is forfeited.
