Agni. Agni was the personification of the ‘sacrificial fire.’ Sacrifices or yajnas occupied a prominent place in the early Vedic religion. Agni was thought of as a messenger or a bearer of offerings (of milk, grain, ghee, etc.) from men to Gods.
